Write It Down
There is nothing more powerful when it comes to new year resolutions than seeing them on paper. Write it down on post it notes, print it out on motivational sheets for the refrigerator, scribble it down in your planner: day after day after day. These things will provide a contestant reminder of where you want to go and they will help provide an extra layer of memory aid when it comes to the physical act of writing them down!
Don’t Get Down On Yourself
The worst enemy we have to success is ourselves. You can’t hope to reach your goals and make your new year resolutions stick if you are always down on yourself. Believe that you can achieve your goals. If you don’t believe it, no one else will either! You have to be your own biggest fan. It’s okay to be mad after a tough loss or a slip up but it’s not useful to hold onto those feelings for too long.
Ask For Help
We are social creatures after all! Don’t be afraid to ask for help. If your resolutions are mental or physical health based you should seek professional help. You will find the most success with these types of goals if you have someone who can not only monitor your progress but also someone who is trained to help you find the best way to your final destination. If you don’t feel comfortable getting professional help ask a trusted family member or friend to assist you along the way.
Use Technology
We have smart technology for everything these days. If you enjoy using technology you can let it make your life a lot easier for your new year resolutions. These new gadgets could also serve as a reward (see below) or a motivational tool to get you started!
Be Realistic
You can’t lose 200 pounds overnight and we can’t learn to be doctors in a week. Those are admirable goals and perfectly find new year resolutions but don’t expect to see things change in an instant. Be realistic and remember that your goals will require work, hard work, and lots of it!
Give Yourself Rewards
Remember when I said that some new tech gadgets could be a great reward? You need rewards! We all deserve rewards. Set up a system that allows you get some rewards when you’ve done good work towards your goals. These things, large or small, will help keep you motivated and working towards your final goal.
Get An Accountability Partner
Asking for help is a great start. The next thing to do is find an accountability partner. This should ideally be someone with similar goals who understands your struggles in this particular journey. New year resolutions are tough to keep without someone nearby to help push you past the fear, uncertainly, and doubtful moments. The great thing with an accountability partner is that you will both get to help one another. It also helps to have a bit of healthy competition to push you along the way.
Take It Step By Step
Each day is a new journey. Don’t be in such a rush that you try and take on too much too soon. Step by step, one foot in front of the other, it’s how all of us get anywhere. Including the winners circles. So make sure you are willing to put in the work and build those steps as you go along!
It’s a lot easier to tackle a huge project when you break it down into more manageable chunks. Do the same thing for your goals and resolutions!
Surround Yourself With A Positive Community
Positivity breeds positive results. You can’t think or even work your way out of a negative thought process if you are constantly surrounded by negativity. If that it is toxic people or family members you need to consider that they will be holding you back. If you can’t dismiss their negativity, you might need to find more positive people to surround yourself with!
