They’re all fairly close to our Sierra Vista community, the Place at Savanna Springs. You can enjoy all of the natural beauty around Sierra Vista with these hiking trails!

The Sierra Vista area also has some awesome hiking options. There are plenty of options for great backpacking and day hiking in the Sierra Vista area.
San Pedro River Trail
The San Pedro River Trail is almost 30 miles of trail that is moderately trafficked. This is an out and back trail. It is a moderately rated trail that features a river and lots of natural wildlife. It is a popular trail for bird watchers! San Pedro River Trail is dog friendly but they must be kept on a leash! Located about 12 minutes from The Place at Savanna Springs community.
Douglass Recreation Area
A great option for hiking in the Sierra Vista area is the Douglass Recreation Area. There are quite a few great hikes in this area. It is impossible to list them all. Check out all of the great options and find something that suits your skill level and goals! You can find something a bit more challenging or take a nice leisurely hike to enjoy the beautiful natrual landscape. This is a dog friendly region of the park. No pets are allowed in the Pusch Ridge Wilderness area or Sabino Canyon recreation area so steer clear of those. Located about 15 minutes from The Place at Savanna Springs.
Carr Peak Trail
This is another out and back trail. Carr Peak Trail is 5.5 miles, lightly trafficked, and it is located near Hereford, Arizona. The trail has some beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are allowed on this trail but must be kept on leash. Located about 55 minutes from The Place at Savanna Springs.
Miller Peak Wilderness
The Miller Peak Wilderness gets its name for the highest peak in the Huachuca Mountain Range. It’s actually the tallest and most southern peak in the US. Trails wind through more than 20, 190 acres in this area which was established in 1984. The Coronado National Park is pet friendly! It’s about an hour to get into the Miller Peak Wilderness from The Place at Savanna Springs community!
Border Trail #45
Finally we have this great trail in the Sierra Vista area. Border Trail #45 is a short trail, 3 miles long, at an elevation of 3400-5000 feet. This is a great area for wildlife and bird watching. There are so many amazing things to see on Border Trail #45. The Sycamore Canyon area in general is very beautiful and perfect for hiking! This is a pet friendly trail so you can take your pup along if you’d like. Just under an hour to get to this great trail from The Place at Savanna Springs.
